Today we would like to introduce you another very talented artists. Taren Carolus also known as “Yungtc”, female singer, songwriter and rapper from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.We had the great pleasure of seeing her performance on the Imibala stages twice already!
Music has this great power to inspire and influence people. For Taren it was clear from the beginning that she is meant to be a musician.
Taren: My music career as a recording artist started back in 2010 when I was part of a group called “Revolution 03”. It wasn’t until year 2017-2019 that I started to record more of my own music. The journey for me since then has been very exhilarating if one may say. I’ve performed on many stages before including “Imibala Arts festival” in 2018 and 2019 .
Taren: Music is something I always wanted to do as far I can remember, seeing artist such as Rihanna, Chris Brown, Beyonce and Usher namely made me realise that, besides making good music, I really just wanted to be a great entertainer/artist. It takes a special kind of magic to be on stage and still be able to rock a crowd. This being said I believe that my music has a something different and unique to offer. As a female artist in this industry it’s really amazing to see how many people, especially the youth, I’ve inspired through music.
Taren performed twice at Imibala Arts Festival. First time in 2018 when we were hosting IAF in Grand Hotel in PE and last year when we were hosted by Alliance Francaise.
Taren: Platforms such as “Imibala Arts Festival” has really helped me build my audience and getting to know other upcoming artist on a personal level. Iam consistently working on new music and exploring new genre of music. I do believe that diversity is key. During this lock down I’ve been writing more music which will be release in due time.
